Heavy Rail May Be Coming to Our Neighborhoods! High-Speed Rail Under Consideration
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) and Clifton Corridor Transportation Management Association (CCTMA) have partnered to conduct the Clifton Corridor Transit Initiative – Alternatives Analysis. The purpose of this study is to determine a way to connect the Lindbergh Center MARTA Station to the Clifton Corridor Employment Center, and the City of Decatur.
MARTA has recently announced its scenarios which are to be advanced for further consideration and study. Among these alternatives is heavy rail transit (HRT) along the existing CSX rail corridor. It is anticipated that there may be right-of-way acquisition in the surrounding neighborhoods of Woodland Hills, Lindridge Martin Manor and Morningside Lenox Park, and the commercial district of Zonolite should this project move forward.
The Lindbergh LaVista Corridor Coalition (LLCC) has worked with Rep. Pat Gardner to schedule a community meeting for the public to gain additional information. Please join us on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 1438 Sheridan Road, Atlanta, GA 30324 MAP .
