A Walk in the Park
Get to know the new ‘Lady’ in the neighborhood and all her attributes. Mary Scott Nature Park, our new DeKalb County Park at 4150 Briarcliff Road (just north of Shallowford Road and behind the Shallowford Presbyterian Church actually) has recently scheduled a series of Saturday Morning Walks with a guide/expert. The walks will have different emphasis in different months. All will be an hour or less in length. It is recommended that you wear good walking shoes and bring water. To join the walk (no reservations are necessary) assemble at the parking lot entrance just off Briarcliff Road at 9:00 am. Length of Walk- 45 minutes to 1 hour depending on the needs and interests of the people in the group. People will be allowed to explore MSNP on their own if they get bored or become interested in something they want to explore more fully away from the group. All ages are welcome.
On September 24, 2011 Audubon member, Dave Butler, will guide us in a walk looking at the birds that inhabit these woods. Bring your binoculars for this one.
October 22, 2011 we will focus again on plants native to the region with Beth Nathan.
