Emory will fund the Emory Village Roundabout Plaza
Letter sent to Lois Berthaume on October 25th, 2011 from Michael J. Mandl, Emory University
President, Alliance to Improve Emory Village

As the Emory Village road improvements and roundabout near completion, I know that you and the Alliance to Improve Emory Village (AIEV) Board share Emory’s excitement regarding this community asset. However, as you are aware, the unfinished park in the Village continues to be problematic as a safety issue for pedestrians and drivers, as well as visually unappealing.
It is Emory’s understanding that there is a budget shortfall for completion of the park in the amount of $66,000. Emory would like to fund this shortfall now so that the park can be completed at the earliest date possible. If you would like Emory to proceed along these lines, please let me know and Emory will move forward with an appropriate agreement with DeKalb County.
Emory expects that this park will be a beautiful addition to the Village and a complement to the improvements that have already occurred there. Thank you to AIEV for its longstanding commitment to this project.
