Fernbank Fifth Grade Service Project

Fernbank Elementary’s fifth grade class will celebrate its first and last year in the new school by planting trees and shrubs at the school in partnership with Trees Atlanta. The plantings will enhance the new school property by creating shade, habitat, and a host of ecological benefits.

Planting will commence Friday, March 18, when Trees Atlanta brings in a team of corporate volunteers from Sparks Grove – some of whom are Fernbank parents – to tackle most of the work.

On the following day, Saturday, March 19, the school asks fifth graders, their parents, and all inspired Druid Hills neighbors to help finish the planting between 9:00am and noon. Please come for any part of that time you are able.

Fernbank hopes the planting will support the DHCA’s initiative for National Wildlife Federation certification.
